- Volunteers and members have a duty of care to each other,
which includes helping to maintain a safe environment and treating all others
in a way which cannot harm them
- Members are asked:
- to be suitably dressed for the weather for their own comfort and
well-being
- to carry a whistle at all times. A personal alarm and/or mobile
phone is also recommended.
- to carry the Ramble Leaders and First Aiders mobile
phone numbers
- to seek the advice or assistance of a volunteer before attempting
to negotiate difficult terrain or in changing weather conditions
- to report any accidents, incidents or potential dangers to the
Ramble Leader
- to inform the Ramble Leader if they intend leaving the group or
venue. This is important as insurance cover will be affected
- to use only scooters on which they have had official instruction
- to use the pavement where available, sticking to the speed limit
of 4mph.
- on roads and in traffic, members are asked to drive on the left,
keeping well left and in a single file
- to turn the speed to the lowest and to turn the scooter off
before (dis)mounting
- to drive slowly and carefully in powerful scooters or
wheelchairs, especially in crowded or confined conditions and where more
cautious members are travelling slowly
- to notify the Secretary of any relevant changes in the medical
information they have provided
- to inform a volunteer of any defects in borrowed equipment
- Members are advised that:
- the driver makes all decisions regarding safety matters when
travelling on hired transport
- the Ramble Leader has the final decision on any safety matters
during a ramble
- they should have adequate scooter/ wheelchair insurance to cover
their own equipment

The Association operates a 'No Smoking' policy. Smoking is not permitted
in any Association buildings, in residences hired by the Association or in
vehicles hired or borrowed by the Association
